Fleur de L'Air is a garden in Provence created by poet-gardener Ian Hamilton Finlay and Pia Maria Simig
in collaboration with the owner. It is a project spanning more than ten years and
involving the siting of numerous works, inscriptional, architectural and statuary - distinct
from Finlay's own garden, Little Sparta, not only in terms of topography but in design
process and scale. Little Sparta is an evolving and growing expression of its creator,
whereas Fleur de l'Air is a planned and patronised project that is now complete. It is
the subject of a book of the same title, photographed by camera obscura,
published by Wild Hawthorn Press
