Textus
CGI rendering of projection onto The Lifting Tower, Wellington Place, Leeds.
August 2007
Work in progress - in collaboration with Arup as part of a NESTA fellowship (2006- 2008). Textus is a cipher based on the latin charters issued to Leeds and Liverpool in 1207. It has been developed as a flexible form or motif intended for simultaneous projection onto structures in Leeds and Liverpool to mark the joint 800th anniversary of both cities. Efforts have been made to engage suitable host sites in both cities and the projection then being tailored to suit the site. At this stage the Lifting Tower, Wellington Place, Leeds is possibility as a host and negotiations are underway to realise the work and to coincide the projection with Light Night in Leeds. The projection will be in the form of of an evolving animation and is being developed by film maker Paul Emery and Phil Slocombe of Lumen.
